In 1928, Chiyo returned to Dotonbori after a four-year absence to join a new comedy troupe. There, actors from various genres gathered, including members of the old Tenkai troupe, kabuki, new school, and revue troupes. Ippei was appointed leader. However, when it became clear that the most talented actor, Sennosuke, would not be participating, the actors became concerned and one by one said they would quit. Chiyo visits Sennosuke and asks him to join the troupe.
